Wildfire Interface

Introduction

The Wildfire Interface Focus Group has been formed to provide an opportunity for the community, the Village, the Volunteer Fire Department, the RDCK, the Kaslo and Area D Community Forest Society and the Ministry of Forests and Range to work cooperatively on interface fire preparedness and management.

The Draft Blackwell Community Wildfire Protection Plan and the Fire Smart manual are posted below.  Meeting minutes, the dates of upcoming meetings and additional material will also be posted here, so check back frequently. Copies of all of this information is also available through the Village Hall at 353 2311.

Public Participation

The Focus Group is interested in learning more from Kaslo and Area D residents about their ideas on how to best prepare for and reduce the risk of wildfire. We would like you to comment on the questions below.

•      What do you see as the focus group’s priorities?
•      Where do you live and what do you think about having fuel reduction treatments in your neighborhood?
•      What values do you want to see protected during fuel reduction treatments?
•      Are you interested in a tour of treated areas?

You are encouraged to respond through this website (click here to comment) or in writing to the Wildfire Interface Focus Group, Village of Kaslo, Box 576, Kaslo BC, V0G 1M0.
